VFIS® Patient Handling
Weber Emergency Services offers the VFIS® Patient Handling - Reducing Responder & Patient Injuries and Patient Handling Incidents curriculum.
This training consists of three to four (3-4) hours of classroom instruction, followed by hands-on equipment orientation and competency demonstration by students using equipment that students utilize in their respective agencies.
This training is designed to:
- Help participants understand the importance of a comprehensive patient handling program.
- Identify the elements of a comprehensive patient handling program.
- Identify actions for reduction of responder injuries, patient injuries, and patient handling incidents.
By participating in this training, responders will learn how they may contribute to patient handling incidents through their actions, beliefs, and behaviors.
By understanding the relevant issues, participants can positively change the way they view patient handling, and ultimately reduce the frequency and severity of patient handling incidents, and patient and responder injuries.
Upon request, and with sufficient advance scheduling, Michigan Department of Community Health EMS continuing education credits are available for this training.
