Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Weber Emergency Services offers both initial and renewal Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) training. As an authorized provider of CPR and ECC courses, we are committed to improving the survival rate following sudden cardiac arrest and stroke.
ACLS is designed for healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest and other cardiovascular emergencies. This includes personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care, and critical care units, such as:
- EMS personnel
- Physician assistants
- Physicians
- Nurses
- Respiratory therapists
- Others who must have a credential (card) documenting successful completion of an ACLS course
Training is conducted using the American Heart Association's curriculum with certified and experienced instructors.
The Initial Provider Course for ACLS requires approximately 10-12 hours to complete, including skills practice and testing.*
The Renewal Course for ACLS requires approximately five to six (5-6) hours to complete, including skills practice and testing.*
Times listed are approximations only, not including breaks, and are based upon 1 instructor, 6 students, and 2 manikins. Actual class times will vary.Topics covered include:
- Key changes in ACLS, reflecting the "2010 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resusciation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care"
- Basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device, and use of a Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest
- Recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia
- Airway management
- Related pharmacology
- Management of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and stroke
- Effective communication as a member and leader of a resuscition team
- Effective Resuscitation Team Dynamics
Training can be scheduled at your facility at your convenience.
A two (2) year certification card is issued upon successful completion of all course requirements.
